A Guide to Rutgers-Newark is a narrative project that heavily focuses on college students getting the guidance and the route to Rutgers-Newark. It campaigns the two narrative ideas of how students deal with not just being at Rutgers, but the city of Newark as well. The first narrative is a poster that shows the map of the Rutgers-Newark campus and downtown Newark. The map includes icons such as parking spots, food, and recreation. The second narrative is a smartphone app that helps out students who are off-campus and don't live in the dorm campus. The app brings tips and tricks on how off-campus students deal with everyday encounters. A Guide to Rutgers-Newark brings out the guidance for off-campus students overall.
Medium 1 - Rutgers-Newark Campus Guide
The Rutgers-Newark Campus Guide is a poster-sized map that helps college students gain knowledge of the campus area. The main objective of the map poster is to give students a physical copy of the map poster. The purpose is that times are changing due to the rise of technology in the 21st century, and iPad kids, a term that Gen Alpha relies on technology instead of physical books and maps. The map poster helps college students know which buildings they need to go to in case they get lost. In addition, students can scan the QR Code so they can exactly know where the building they need to be at.
Medium 2 - Rutgers Commuter’s Guide
The Rutgers Commuter's Guide is a smartphone app that helps out students who are off-campus and don’t live in the dorms. The app brings out the interactive side of showing off-campus, the two key factors, which are transportation and tips & tricks. Each section of the two factors provides a statistic, tips & tricks, and advice to help off-campus commuters be prepared for any scenario. These scenarios include traffic, road rage, encounters with homeless people, and being on time. Additionally, Rutgers Commuter's Guide even shows well-known facts about the city of Newark, such as famous movies and TV shows, celebrities, and the famous insurance company, Prudential. Rutgers Commuter's Guide brings guidance to off-campus students on a smartphone app.
